Group Technical

The Group Technical Achievement Award is given to the Head of a Group in Academia or Industry that has achieved significant contributions in Signal Processing and related areas over a number of years.

Nominations should be sent to Prof. Ana Pérez-Neira by December 31st. The award ceremony takes place during the EUSIPCO conference.

2015 Group Technical Achievement Award


The EURASIP Group Technical Achievement Award for 2015 is awarded to Walter Kellermann, for contributions to acoustic signal processing for blind source separation and spatial filtering through extensive activities of his research group.


2014 Group Technical Achievement Award


The EURASIP Group Technical Achievement Award for 2014 is awarded to Gianni Vernazza, for contributions to signal processing and pattern recognition with applications to remote sensing, communications and biomedical imaging.

2013 Group Technical Achievement Award

The EURASIP Group Technical Achievement Award for 2013 is awarded to Mohamed Najim, for pioneering contributions to Theory and Applications in Signal and Image Processing.


2012 Group Technical Achievement Award

The EURASIP Group Technical Achievement Award for 2012 is awarded to Joachim H. G. Ender, for contributions to array signal processing and multichannel synthetic aperture radar.


2011 Group Technical Achievement Award

The EURASIP Group Technical Achievement Award for 2011 was awarded to Levent Onural, for contributions to signal processing issues related to diffraction, holography and holographic video.


2010 Group Technical Achievement Award

The EURASIP Group Technical Achievement Award for 2010 was awarded to Miguel Angel Lagunas Hernández, for contributions to theory and industrial applications of statistical signal processing.


2009 Group Technical Achievement Award

The EURASIP Group Technical Achievement Award for 2009 was awarded to Thomas Wiegand, for contributions to video coding research and standardization activities.


2008 Group Technical Achievement Award

The EURASIP Group Technical Achievement Award for 2008 was awarded to Jean Serra, in recognition of his fundamental contributions to the foundation of mathematical morphology and its applications in signal and image processing.


2007 Group Technical Achievement Award

The EURASIP Group Technical Achievement Award for 2007 was awarded to Mats Viberg, for contributions to statistical signal processing with applications to radar, communications, and automotive systems.


2006 Group Technical Achievement Award

The EURASIP Group Technical Achievement Award for 2006 was awarded to Alfonso Farina for development and application of Adaptive Signal Processing Techniques in Radar Systems.


2005 Group Technical Achievement Award

The EURASIP Group Technical Achievement Award for 2005 was awarded to Micheal G. Strintzis for significant contributions to the theory and application of digital filtering and image processing and coding.


2004 Group Technical Achievement Award

The EURASIP Group Technical Achievement Award for 2004 was awarded to Ulrich Heute for effective leadership in speech signal processing, coding and recognition and his group's fundamental contributions in this field.


2003 Group Technical Achievement Award

The EURASIP Group Technical Achievement Award for 2003 was awarded to John McWhirter for dynamic leadership of QineticQ advances in algorithmic signal processing for application in defense systems.


2002 Group Technical Achievement Award

The EURASIP Group Technical Achievement Award for 2002 was awarded to Murat Kunt for major contributions to signal, image and image sequence analysis, processing and coding.


2001 Group Technical Achievement Award

The EURASIP Group Technical Achievement Award for 2001 was awarded to Yrjo Neuvo for major contributions to signal processing research at academia and industry.


2000 Group Technical Achievement Award

The EURASIP Group Technical Achievement Award for 2000 was awarded to Eberhard Haensler for major contributions in the design and implementation of acoustic echo and noise control systems.


1999 Group Technical Achievement Award

The EURASIP Group Technical Achievement Award for 1999 was awarded to Odile Macchi for major contributions in the theory and practice of stochastic point processes and adaptive systems.
