Individual Technical

The Technical Achievement Award is given to a scientist who has made significant research contributions in Signal Processing Theory and Applications. Nominations should be sent to Prof. Ana Pérez-Neira by December 31st. The award ceremony takes place during the EUSIPCO conference.

2016 Technical Achievement Award

On an exceptional basis, this year there are two recipients of this award Mauro Barni, for contributions to digital watermarking, multimedia security and forensics, and Mário A. T. Figueiredo for fundamental contributions to optimization algorithms for sparsity-based and wavelet-based signal processing.

2015 Technical Achievement Award

The EURASIP Technical Achievement Award for 2015 is awarded to Visa Koivunen, for fundamental contributions to statistical signal processing and its applications in wireless communications, radar and related fields.

2014 Technical Achievement Award

The EURASIP Technical Achievement Award for 2014 is awarded to William J. Fitzgerald, for contributions in applications of Bayesian theory in signal processing.

2013 Technical Achievement Award

The EURASIP Technical Achievement Award for 2013 is awarded to Steve Young, for contributions to the development of Spoken Language Systems including Speech Recognition, Speech Synthesis and Dialogue Management.

2012 Technical Achievement Award

The EURASIP Technical Achievement Award for 2012 is awarded to Peter M. Djuric, for contributions to the theory and application of Monte Carlo-based methods to signal processing.

2011 Technical Achievement Award

The EURASIP Technical Achievement Award for 2011 was awarded to Yuri I. Abramovich, for fundamental contributions to adaptive array processing for radar.

2010 Technical Achievement Award

The EURASIP Technical Achievement Award for 2010 was awarded to Sergio Barbarossa, for contributions to synthetic aperture radar and wireless communications and networks.

2009 Technical Achievement Award

The EURASIP Technical Achievement Award for 2009 was awarded to Moeness G. Amin, for contributions to radar imaging and interference mitigation in communications and navigation systems.

2008 Technical Achievement Award

The EURASIP Technical Achievement Award for 2008 was awarded to Martin Vetterli, in recognition of his fundamental contributions to wavelet theory and its applications.

2007 Technical Achievement Award

The EURASIP Technical Achievement Award for 2007 was awarded to Petros Maragos, for contributions to Nonlinear Signal Processing and Systems Theory, Image Processing, and Speech Processing.

2006 Technical Achievement Award

The EURASIP Annual Technical Achievement Award for 2006 was awarded to Pierre Comon , for contributions in the field of Blind Signal Processing and the Independent Component Analysis Methodology.

2005 Technical Achievement Award

The EURASIP Annual Technical Achievement Award for 2005 was awarded to Georgios B. Giannakis for fundamental contributions in Statistical Signal Processing and Signal Processing for Communications.

2004 Technical Achievement Award

A Technical Achievement Award for 2004 was awarded to Wolfgang Mecklenbrauker for his pioneering contributions in digital signal processing and his seminal work on reinterpreting the two-dimensional Wigner distribution, from its use as a quantum-mechanical function, into an electronic time-frequency signal analysis technique.

Another Technical Achievement Award for 2004 was awarded to Bernd Girod for his fundamental contributions to networked media systems, video signal compression and coding, and 3-D image analysis and synthesis.

2002 Technical Achievement Award

A Technical Achievement Award for 2002 was awarded to Sanjit K. Mitra for outstanding contributions to analogue and digital signal and image processing.

Another Technical Achievement Award for 2002 was awarded to Petre Stoica for his contributions to system indentification, spectral analysis and statistical signal processing.
