Report on ISSPA 2010

The 10th International conference on Information Science, Signal Processing and their Applications (ISSPA 2010) was held inKuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 10th –13th May 2010. ISSPA 2010 is the tenth event in the series of conferences, which since 1985 has brought to gether leading researchers and practitioners from academia and industry engaged inresearch and development related to signal processing theory and applications.

ISSPA 2010 wasco-organised by several international universities in Australia, Europe, North-America, Middle-Eastand Malaysia; the local Malaysian Universities include the Faculty of Biomedical & Health Science Engineering and Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) incooperation with University Malaya (UM), Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) and with the support of several other bodies and international universities around the world including the University of Queensland, Australia, University of Paris 12 and Qatar university. ISSPA 2010 was offciated by Dr.Maximus Johnity Ongkili, the Malaysian Minister of Science,Technology, and Innovation

In this year event, despite the international financial crisis, therewere also large contributors from 214 authors from 30 countries arrangedin 15 oral and 10 poster sessions. Three Distinguished scientists were invited to give keynote speeches in the plenary sessions. They were Prof Paul Cold it z from University of Queensl and, Prof Ercan Kuruoglu from ISTI-CNR, Pisaand Prof Rene Garello from Ecole Nationale Super ieuredesTélécommunications de Bretagne (Telecom Bretagne), France. Inaddition, there were 6 tutorials on carefully selected theme sheld a day before the three days of regular technical program. On the lastday of the event, 3 students were rewarded as best paper. Overall, ISSPA 2010 wasa successful and fruitful event.
