EURASIP Awards: Announcement 2014 Best PhD Thesis Awards
EURASIP, the European Signal Processing Association (http://www.eurasip.org), created and maintains a database of PhD manuscripts at http://theses.eurasip.org, which is one of the World's largest in the area of signal processing. The database also keeps tracks of monthly downloads.

Every year a committee of experts nominated by the EURASIP BoD selects up to three theses related to different areas of signal processing to be awarded. The selection process is based on the evaluation of the impact of the theses, their subsequent journal and conference publications and related citations received, and on the review reports of the independent reviewers as well as on the download statistics.

The 2014 winners are:

Pau Closas Gomez for the thesis titled “Bayesian Signal Processing Techniques for GNSS Receivers: from multipath mitigation to positioning”, advisors J. A. Fernandez-Rubio, C. Fernandez-Prades, Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya, 2009.

Tobias Hidalgo Stitz for the thesis titled “Filter Bank Techniques for the Physical Layer in Wireless Communications”, advisor Markku Renfors, Tampere University of Technology, 2010.

Many congratulations to these winners on behalf of the EURASIP Board of Directors.
