In 2007, the EURASIP Board of Directors initiated a “Fellowship Programme”, to recognize outstanding achievements of its members and volunteers. Each year, a select group of signal processing researchers are elevated to “EURASIP Fellow”, the Association's most prestigious honor.
It is my pleasure to announce the result of the 2011 “EURASIP Fellows” selection process. In recognition of their many important contributions to the field of signal processing, the EURASIP Board of Directors elevates the following individuals to “EURASIP Fellow 2011”:
Prof. Helmut Bölcskei, ETH Zürich, Switzerland
“For contributions to MIMO wireless communications”
Prof. Jean-Francois Cardoso, E.N.S.T./Télécom Paris, France
“For contributions to blind source separation, higher-order statistics, array processing, and performance analysis”
Prof. Lajos Hanzo, University of Southampton, United Kingdom
“For advances in signal processing for adaptive modulation, turbo decoding and synchronisation for wireless cellular systems”
Prof. Sergios Theodoridis, University of Athens, Greece
“For advances in adaptive algorithms for signal processing and machine learning”
I wish to congratulate our new EURASIP Fellows on this most important achievement. The Fellowship Awards will be presented at EUSIPCO-2011, to be held in Barcelona, August 29–September 2, 2011. In addition, to highlight the Fellowship Programme, Prof. Helmut Bölcskei and Prof. Sergios Theodoridis will present a “Fellow Inaugural Lecture”, also at EUSIPCO-2011.
