President's Message: EURASIP Fellows 2015
In 2007, the EURASIP Board of Directors (BoD) initiated a “Fellowship Programme”, to recognize outstanding achievements of its members and volunteers. Each year, a select group of signal processing researchers are elevated to “EURASIP Fellow”, the Association's most prestigious honour.

It is my pleasure to announce the result of the 2015 selection process. In recognition of their many important contributions to the field of signal processing, the EURASIP BoD elevates the following individuals to “EURASIP Fellow 2015”:
  • Prof. Moeness Amin (College of Engineering, Villanova University, Villanova, PA, USA) for contributions to signal processing for radar and satellite navigation.
  • Prof. Sergio Barbarossa (Dept. of Information Engineering, Electronics, and Telecommunications, University of Rome “Sapienza”, Rome, Italy) for contributions to signal processing for radar remote sensing, sensor and communication networks.
  • Prof. Dirk Slock (EURECOM, Sophia Antipolis, France) for contributions to adaptive filtering and signal processing for communications.
  • Prof. Peter Vary (RWTH, Aachen, Germany) for contributions to wireless speech and audio communications.
I wish to congratulate our new EURASIP Fellows on this most important achievement. The Fellowship Awards will be presented at EUSIPCO 2015, to be held in Nice (France), the capital of the Côte d'Azur, August 31 – September 4, 2015.

EURASIP Awards: Call for Fellow Nominations
EURASIP Fellow nominations are invited with a deadline of October 31st, 2015.

The EURASIP fellowship programme recognizes outstanding achievements of its members and volunteers. Each year, a select group of up to four European signal processing researchers are elevated to EURASIP Fellow, the Association’s most prestigious honour. Fellowships are awarded with a citation of the form “for contributions to ...”, i.e. referring to a major long-term contribution to a technical field.

How to Submit Nominations

Any EURASIP member can nominate a colleague to be elevated to Fellow grade. Nominations should be submitted to the EURASIP Awards Chair by e-mail. The nomination form can be downloaded from the EURASIP website via this link.

The deadline is October 31st of every year. The Board of Directors encourages you to share this information with your colleagues.

EUSIPCO-2015 PhD in 3 minutes
If you are devoting or have devoted 3 or more years to your PhD, you could devote 3 minutes to explain it to a more general public, we challenge you!!

As a new activity within the EUSIPCO2015 conference, the Technical Program Committee is offering a 3 Minutes Thesis (3MT) contest, where PhD students have three minutes to present a compelling oration on their thesis and its significance. This activity is sponsored by EURASIP, which wants to promote transversal skills of PhD researchers such as oral and presentation skill. If you want to participate, visit the EUSIPCO-2015 website and click on the 3MT announcement.

Important Dates:
Video Submission Deadline: 5th June 2015
Acceptance notification: 22nd June 2015

EUSIPCO is the flagship conference of the European Association for Signal Processing (EURASIP). The 23rd edition will be held in Nice, on the French Riviera, from 31st August -4th September 2015. EUSIPCO 2015 will feature world-class speakers, oral and poster sessions, keynotes, exhibitions, demonstrations and tutorials and is expected to attract in the order of 600 leading researchers and industry figures from all over the world.
