Welcome Message from TPC Chairs

On behalf of the Technical Program Committee, it is our pleasure to welcome you to the 2016 EURASIP European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO 2016) in the beautiful and historic city of Budapest. The conference brings together researchers from all over the world to discuss the latest advances in signal processing.

The technical program of EUSIPCO 2016 covers 20 areas with 28 special sessions, 10 tutorials, as well as 4 plenary talks. Together, all these forums present the cutting-edge developments of both the scientific and industrial developments. For EUSIPCO 2016, we were extremely excited to receive 849 submissions, clearly earmarking the event as the largest and most important European Signal Processing conference within Europe in 2016. The submissions came from all areas of Signal Processing including:
- Audio and acoustic signal processing
- Speech processing
- Language processing
- Image and video processing
- Multimedia signal processing
- Signal processing theory and methods - Sensor array, multichannel and communications signal processing
- Radar and sonar array signal processing
- Estimation theory and applications
- Nonlinear signal processing and adaptive filters
- Cooperative networking
- Compressive sensing, dictionary learning, and sparse reconstruction
- Machine learning
- Signal processing for education
- Design and implementation of signal processing systems
- Information forensics and security
- Bio-inspired modelling and signal processing
- Medical image and signal processing
- Signal processing applications
- Signal processing for Quantum

Each submission was reviewed by at least three independent reviewers and 495 papers were accepted (with the acceptance rates of 51% and 58% for normal sessions and in total, respectively). Technical papers will be presented with lecture style or in poster sessions. The quality of papers in both oral and poster sessions is the same. We are extremely grateful to all researchers who have undertaken to act as session chairs.

We would like to especially thank the area chairs, tutorial chairs, as well as the many hundred members of the technical program committee and the external reviewers for their dedication. Without their help, this conference would not be possible. We would also like to thank all the session chairs, the keynote and tutorial speakers for their significant contributions. Last, but not least, our sincere thanks to the general Chair Lajos Hanzo and the executive committee for their strong support and willingness to help.

In conclusion, we believe we have composed an exciting and up-to-date technical program for EUSIPCO 2016. We hope you find the event intellectually stimulating and you make new contacts and friends. We do hope you enjoy your stay in Budapest!
