Activities

Besides the technical programme, our social events will make your visit worthwile and long-lasting. The following events can be booked upon registration.

Sight-Seeing tour (Sunday, 19/06/05, about 13:00-16:00)

On registration day, this sightseeing offers to gain a first general impression of Dresden. The busses leave at 13:00 from the International Congress Center. The tour will include the historic city center with the Residential Castle, the Frauenkirche, the Catholic Hofkirche, the Zwinger, Theaterplatz, the Semper Opera House, the Fürstenzug and the Brühl terraces (viewing from outside). Afterwards you will visit the 'Green Vault' in the Residential Castle. This most magnificent treasure chamber of Europe displays a collection of remarkable masterpieces in jewellers- and goldsmiths artwork as well as precious objects of amber, ivory and elaborated bronze statues from the time of Renaissance to the Baroque.

Welcome Reception (Sunday, 19/06/05, 19:00)

All participants and guests are invited to join the Welcome Reception on Sunday evening. This Get Together will allow you to meet colleagues and friends as well as make new contacts ahead of the conference, while discovering the 'White Gold' of Saxony in the appealing ambience of the Zwinger's Porcellain Collection. This event is included in the conference fees; please register in the Registration Form!

Wine tour to Schloss Wackerbarth (Monday, 20/06/05, 19:00-22:45)

Experience the joy of wine at Schloss Wackerbarth. The bus starts at 19:00 at the congress center. After a little sightseeing-tour the bus brings you to Schloss Wackerbarth in Dresden-Radebeul. During the wine tour you will follow the wine from the grapes to the glass and taste the famous wine of Schloss Wackerbarth. The evening will be completed by a delicious menu, while you can enjoy the view over the wineyards, gardens and winemaking facilities of Schloss Wackerbarth. The bus will be back in Dresden around 22:45.

Gala Dinner (Tuesday, 21/06/05, 20:00 )

The Kempinski Hotel Taschenbergpalais in the Old Town of Dresden welcomes you for the Gala dinner. After the hotel was almost totally destroyed during World War II, it has been rebuild in 1995 and connects the baroque style with modern Grand Hotel atmosphere in a unique way. With an exquisit dinner and great entertainment in this luxury hotel you will spend a wunderful evening. The gala dinner is included in the full registration fee. Please register in the Registration Form. Students and accompanying persons wishing to attend the gala dinner need to buy extra tickets.
