Workshop and Conference Activities

As a student, close to finishing my PhD, I attended The 5th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO 1990) in Barcelona, Spain, organised by Miguel Ánguel Lagunas. It was the third international conference I attended in my academic career, but one of the most memorable ones. I still remember meeting senior academics who influenced me in my research path. I also remember the beautiful social programme that was put together by the organisers. Eleven years later, Barcelona will host The 19th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO 2011) from 29 August to 2 September 2011. The General Chair, Ana Pérez Neira, together with her team, selected outstanding keynote speakers. The conference also received high-quality special session proposals from leading researchers on timely and most interesting topics. Some of the information is already available at the following address: http://www.eusipco2010.org/.

You may be a student in the middle of your PhD or finishing your PhD. EUSIPCO provides a forum where you too could meet world-leading researchers who could give you invaluable feedback on your work that would mark your future research. I would like to invite students and senior researchers to attend EUSIPCO 2011 and enjoy what promises to be a great event in this beautiful Mediterranean city. I look forward to meeting you in Barcelona.

In this issue of the newsletter, you will find the details of EUSIPCO 2011, along with a calendar of events, which lists forthcoming workshops or conferences that are co-sponsored by EURASIP. Some Calls for Papers are also included. The Board of Directors of EURASIP would be glad to receive your proposals for a future EUSIPCO conference or a request for a co-sponsorship of a conference or workshops you are planning to organise.
