EURASIP Fellowships – Call for Nominations |
The Deadline for EURASIP Fellow Nominations is October 31st, 2012.
In 2007, the EURASIP Board of Directors (BoD) initiated a “Fellowship Programme”, to recognize outstanding achievements of its members and volunteers. Each year, a select group of European signal processing researchers (up to four) are elevated to “EURASIP Fellow”, the Association's most prestigious honour.
Where to Submit Nominations
Any EURASIP member can nominate a colleague to be elevated to Fellow grade. Nominations should be submitted to the EURASIP Awards chair, Fulvio Gini, by e-mail (f.gini@ing.unipi.it). The nomination form can be downloaded from the EURASIP website or requested from the Awards Chair. The deadline is October 31st of every year. Nominations will be passed to the chair of the Fellow Selection Committee who will consult with the committee to come up with a proposal (including a short citation for each candidate) to the BoD by December 31st of the same year. The BoD will take a decision by the end of January of the following year on new fellowship awards and the EURASIP President will then notify the successful individuals, and their names will be added to the Society WWW pages.
We encourage you to nominate highly deserving colleagues to this prestigious honour.

EURASIP Best Paper Awards presented at EUSIPCO-2012 |
EURASIP congratulates the following colleagues who will receive the Society's prestigious Best Paper Awards. The awards will be presented at EUSIPCO-2012 in Bucharest, Romania.
Four Best Paper Awards will be awarded, honouring the author(s) of a paper of exceptional merit dealing with a subject related to the Society's technical scope, and appearing in one of the EURASIP journals in the 4-year window 2007–2010. The prize is 1000 EUR per paper and a certificate. For each journal, a collection of papers were pre-selected by the journal Editor-in-Chief, based on reviewers' scores, number of citations and number of downloads, or direct nomination by the members of the Editorial Board who managed the review process of the submitted papers. The nominated papers were then evaluated by a committee of four experts who selected the paper to be awarded based on general quality, originality, subject matter, and timeliness. This year, the awardees are the following:
- P. Kauff, N. Atzpadin, C. Fehn, M. Muller, O. Schreer, A. Smolic, and R. Tanger, for their paper “Depth map creation and image-based rendering for advanced 3DTV services providing interoperability and scalability,” published in Signal Processing: Image Communication. Vol. 22, pp. 217–234, 2007.
For the first three journals the award is assigned yearly, for the last one every two years, as detailed on the EURASIP website. The Best Paper Awards are sponsored by the journals publishers, Springer and Elsevier.
Finally, we thank all the members of the Best Paper Award committees for their careful and thorough reading of the nominated papers. We would like to acknowledge those who served in these committees: Kostas Berberidis, Müjdat Çetin, Jonathon Chambers, Georgios B. Giannakis, Christine Guillemot, Ian Jermyn, Kevin Knuth, Geert Leus, Marco Luise, Marc Moonen, Jean-Cristoph Pesquet, Augusto Sarti, Dirk Slock, Murat Tekalp, Stefano Tubaro, and Abdelhak Zoubir.
