| EURASIP Awards: Announcement 2013 Best PhD Thesis Awards |
The European Association for Signal Processing (EURASIP) created and maintains a database of PhD manuscripts at http://theses.eurasip.org, which is one of the World's largest in the area of signal processing. The database also keeps tracks of monthly downloads.
Every year a committee of experts nominated by the EURASIP BoD selects up to three theses related to different areas of signal processing to be awarded. The selection process is based on the evaluation of the impact of the theses, their subsequent journal and conference publications and related citations received, and on the review reports of the independent reviewers as well as on the download statistics.
The winners for 2013 are:
 Jan Ostergaard for the thesis titled “Multiple-description lattice vector quantization”, advisors R. I. Lagendijk, R. Heusdens, Delft University, 2007.
Thomas Schon for the thesis titled “Estimation of Nonlinear Dynamic Systems: Theory and Applications”, advisor Fredrik Gustafsson, Linkoping University, 2006.
Many congratulations to these winners on behalf of the EURASIP Board of Directors. The EURASIP Board of Directors extends their sincere gratitude to the review committee: Jaako Astola, Helmut Bölcksei and Bulent Sankur (Chair).

| New appointments in the editorial boards of Elsevier Journals |

EURASIP maintains a portfolio of three journals published by Elsevier, and can only do so thanks to the excellent management by the three Editors-in-Chief and the strong commitment of the editorial board members.
