EURASIP Awards: Announcement Society Awards |
The European Association for Signal Processing (EURASIP) congratulates the following colleagues who will receive the Society's prestigious awards. The awards will be presented at EUSIPCO 2019 in A Coruña, Spain.
The Technical Achievement Award honors a person who, over a period of years, has made outstanding technical contributions to theory or practice in technical areas within the scope of the Society,
as demonstrated by publications, patents, or recognized impact in this field.
This year’s recipient is Prof. Christine Guillemot, “For contributions to video processing for compression and inverse problems".
The Group Technical Achievement Award is given to the head of a group in academia or industry that has achieved significant contributions in signal processing and related areas over a number of years.
This year’s recipient is Prof. Mark Sandler, “For his leadership and outstanding contribution to the development and innovation of digital music and audio”.
The Athanasios Papoulis Awardis given to honor scientists whose work has had a major impact on various aspects of signal processing education.
This year’s recipient is Prof. Steven Boyd, “For outstanding contributions to Convex Optimization-based Signal Processing Research and Education”.
The Meritorious Service Award is given to recognize individuals who have given distinguished service to the Society in the form of significant contributions to the development of EURASIP,
distinguished service to the advancement and pursuit of the technical objectives of EURASIP, or active cooperation in actions supported or sponsored by EURASIP.
This year’s recipient is Prof. Aggelos Pikrakis,
“For his fundamental activities in machine learning and deep neural networks and for his continuous commitment with EURASIP in the last 13 years in different roles, significantly contributing to the modernization of EURASIP’s IT infrastructure”.
The Early Career Award is awarded to outstanding researchers and engineers working within the technical scope of EURASIP at an early or mid-stage of their career, whose current work shows not only
significant scientific achievements but also high potential to advance scientific knowledge through novel, timely and significant endeavors.
This year’s recipients are: Prof. Emil Björnson, “For significant contributions to multi-antenna communications and open science” and Prof. Michalis Matthaiou "For significant contributions to signal processing for MIMO and massive MIMO systems".

Participation of EURASIP Springer Journals in ORCID Peer Review pilot |
All EURASIP Springer journals will participate in an ORCID Peer
Review pilot wherein reviewers can receive documented, verified
peer review activity "credit".
ORCID is a non-profit organization that provides researchers with a
unique digital identifier. These identifiers can be used by editors,
funding agencies, publishers, and institutions to reliably identify
individuals in the same way that ISBNs and DOIs identify books and
articles. The ORCID website provides researchers with a page where
comprehensive research activity can be documented. This includes
peer review data.
New functionality in the Editorial Management system of Springer
Nature will allow direct credit of peer reviews to researchers’
ORCID profiles once the reviewer authorizes it, at the time the
review is submitted, providing verified data to the ORCID profile.
